A Fiddleheads Email Inbox Photo Album

various photos of fake Strad violins spread out across each other

Since 2001 customers have emailed photos of violins in various conditions, all suspected to be Stradivariuses.

Some of them are superb replicas, and some are obviously fakes to a well-trained eye. I share this here as it's intriguing to see the variety of instruments bearing this auspicious yet overused label and to help my customers develop a violin shop owner's "eye."

Fiddleheads and I do not offer evaluations or appraisals. You may wish to contact a service such as Bromptons*, which now offers video and email valuations. (*Fiddleheads has not dealt with Brompton's and cannot attest to their services.)
