Admirable business

I congratulate you on the many awards you have received for business excellence, and especially appreciate the environmental one.

I'm a strong believer in respecting nature, and I try my best to help, even if it is as small as just caring about things I use in everyday life.

Would have loved a matching cello

We purchased a violin from you almost ten years ago, a Zhu vn909. My eldest is no longer in music school, already now in university, but still loves that violin.

You might remember the mom who asked you to write that the violin's name was Bella. My kid was so impressed. That was so sweet of you.

I really appreciate that you would have ordered a Zhu cello for me. No one seems to sell them in Canada and they really sound amazing even at that price.

I saw that you received awards on your website since we got the violin, congrats.

Reading up about makers online, I also saw your name come up a few times in blogs, discussions, etc., in a positive manner, almost like a reference.

You really are doing great!

Inspiring business and owner

Congratulations on being awarded the Chamber of Commerce Environmental Leadership Award!

I have so much respect for you and all aspects of your business. The decision for Small Business of the Year was extremely close and truly a difficult decision, however somehow I knew you would win one award or another.

Listening and learning about your story, and how your business has grown was truly inspiring.

You reminded me of the quote, "settle for more." This is based off the fact that you have worked who hard that you have come to a point where you are truly content with where your business is.

That is really the goal that everyone tries for, and it is rare to see someone accomplish this.

Keep up the amazing work — and thank you for taking the time to meet with me.

A one of a kind violin dealer

[To Rhiannon] You are really something! I wish I had learned about you earlier.

I have bought so many violins, violas, and cellos, and would have rather bought them from you. I've bought from most of the major dealers and auction houses but you are really unique. I have never encountered anyone like you.

The violin arrived an hour ago. I already have tried it. I'm very pleased with it!

I was curious because in appearance, it looks much like my Guarneri Topa. But it sounds so different from the Guarneri model. It actually surprised me, even though it was consistent with expectations. It is exactly like you said: It has a brighter sound, as one would expect given that it is a Guadagnini type of violin.

I'm delighted with it. Great packing job! Thanks so much! Quick arrival too [Only 3 business days].

I hope we stay in touch! Congrats on the award!!!!

[REVIEW: Google, 5 stars] I bought a Topa Guadagnini violin from Rhiannon.

It was the best buying experience I think I've ever had for any instrument. She was totally unbelievable in her attention to detail, her great sense of humor, and her impeccable service.

My only regret is that her studio is so far away. She is a real treasure!

The whole transaction was perfect

Thank you very much for your advice and for your help with my order. I [feel] happiness and excitement about the new shoulder rest and the Strad Pad. I haven't had much of an opportunity to play and to get them set up 100% (returning to work from a vacation.....trying to catch up) but so far, it has been a good change.

I used the long retaining claw and that helped, and I could still feel my violin resonate which was great!

I appreciate your help and time, and I'll share your business cards with the members of our group.

What you do makes a positive difference in your customers' lives. Thank you so much and congratulations!! Your awards are excellent!

(The quartet that I'm a member of plays Baroque music and I noticed you sell Baroque bows. I may be in touch about one.)

[REVIEW: Google, 5 stars] Rhiannon was very helpful with setting me up with the right accessories for improved comfort with my violin and her expertise is greatly appreciated!

She quickly replied to questions and the whole transaction was perfect!

The sustainability label drew me to your store

That’s amazing… your [Green Leadership Award and Small Business of the Year] nominations.

I am vegan myself and it was the sustainability label that drew me to your store. Always a pleasure to meet other vegan and eco conscious business owners.

Best of luck with the awards!

In support of Rhiannon's achievements and future goals

I had the pleasure of meeting Rhiannon Nachbaur more than twelve years ago while serving as Okanagan University College Regional Dean for the Shuswap-Revelstoke Region.

The University College was exploring the possibility of the creation of a music program at the Salmon Arm Campus and I sought Rhiannon's opinion as I knew that she was a very talented musician with a great involvement in the artistic community. In addition to our consultations, Rhiannon has delivered courses through our Continuing Studies Department.

From a career perspective, Rhiannon has demonstrated a great deal of creativity, perseverance, and fortitude while seeking ways in which to support her family in this small town setting. I admire and applaud her endeavors and success.

It is no easy feat to establish a non-profit violin society, host countless concerts and educational experiences, fundraise for music, win multiple young entrepreneur and business awards, and build a successful online violin shop within the constraints imposed by a small rural community with a population of 17,000. All of this was accomplished while working from home and caring for her two children.

Rhiannon's efforts have continued in Salmon Arm over a sixteen year period. However, the limitations placed on her career as a highly skilled violinist have been significant. The opportunity for growth and development of her expertise has required her to seek options further afield than Salmon Arm. Rhiannon plays with two orchestras: in the Kamloops Symphony, one as a section leader; she has also been invited to join others upon relocation to Kamloops.

Rhiannon's talents have been recognized and she has established a reputation as a talented musician in Kamloops. Further opportunities are bound to emerge. In all instances, being away from home to pursue existing and emerging opportunities for income generation in the world of music causes stress due to the demands of travel and the complexities of child minding arrangements.

A move to Kamloops facilitates Rhiannon's career development, employment opportunities and income generation.

In summary, I support Rhiannon's desire to relocate to a larger centre such as Kamloops. For the reasons cited in this letter, such a move would be beneficial for her sons, their needs and aspirations, and for Rhiannon, who wishes to provide her children with a happy home life and a rewarding future. A relocation would definitely increase and enhance the opportunities available for the entire family.

Hooked on this site

We are violin/viola teacher colleagues. While searching google for something else, there was an article about "violin or fiddle," so I clicked on your site.

Very amusing writing! I was hooked to browse your site further.

I was just looking at your site some more, and will happily forward your site. Congrats on your musical accomplishments!!

I'm impressed with the violin and the service

I am happy to say that I have been enjoying my new lefthanded 102 violin. I was impressed by the testimonials and I took your word about the tone: clear and sweet. I trust your judgment. It will be fine for my purposes.

I was totally pleased with everything. The packing job was great! Incredible. The corrugated cardboard columns and the tiny airbags protected the violin perfectly. The sponges protected the bridge on both sides.

I was very happy to see the nice write up about Fiddleheads on Violinist.com. You certainly do handle all the ENTHUSIASM well. It's so exciting to see that you have a violin school and also that you do charity work.

Congratulations on your fabulous accomplishments and all of your awards and the wonderful website and the integrity you express there. I am so impressed by your candidness and integrity.
I loved hearing about you and Fiddleheads and all your wonderful talents and 'sharings' and accomplishments. It has been lovely. Thank you for your advice. Do I owe you money for 'therapy'?

Good luck with all your work; please don't work too hard. You're right. I am very happy. Wunderbar! LOL

Award winner for a reason

You've been very speedy, Rhiannon! Thank you; I didn't expect that you would be able to get to me until after the long weekend. Your customer service is remarkable. :)

As for earning a customer...you have done that, and more! I could not be more impressed by your professionalism and attentive customer service.

I understand why you have won many awards. I can't believe my good fortune in finding your website on line.

Also...Cady's "whooooooooooahhhhhh" took about a minute, upon seeing the photo of your dress. I second the motion! You look gorgeous!

You have inspired my girl to want to play in a symphony and wear a ball gown like that :)

With Fiddleheads, you are not simply purchasing a violin from a dealer

(Rhiannon, I wrote up a small recommendation of you for the site - it was easy though - you represent the easiest and most knowledgeable dealer I've encountered, and I think prospective buyers need to understand this as well!!)

Perhaps one of the most difficult and daunting tasks facing a musician is purchasing a violin. Rhiannon has, however, turned this into a very positive experience by virtue of her personalized service, knowledge and honesty.

You are not simply purchasing a violin from a dealer: Clearly an astute business person, Rhiannon is also an award-winning violinist and music teacher. As a result, she sells instruments that actually meet the buyer's needs and expectations.

I purchased a Stankov violin from her, and after several wonderful communications, I made the wise decision to purchase this incredible instrument - I cannot thank you enough, Rhiannon!

With Rhiannon my daughter has excelled far beyond my expectations

My daughter has had lessons at the Fiddleheads Violin School for the past three years.

I am extremely impressed with the quality of dedication that Rhiannon puts into her school. She has provided us with a continuous positive attitude and a wonderful incentive program for her students. She puts in a real personal approach to private lessons as well as group instruction and offers new material on a regular basis.

I'm also quite impressed with all the extras she seems to find time for,
such as newsletters, e-mails, and inspires her students to take part in community events and performances.

Our family is in awe of her 100% dedication to her students and the community. She has organized many events in the Shuswap area such as the Fiddlesticks orchestra, the Fiddleheads Violin Ensemble, and has established the Shuswap Violin Society that support workshops, scholarships and instrument bank projects, and her creation, the Strings Alive Music Festival.

Her enthusiasm to push her students to their greatest potential is a gift in itself. We as parents understand how our children will perform for others at a higher level than they will for us at home.

She and some of her students played at the Discovery Day Celebration on top of many park concerts, numerous community events, and even busking in the streets for the tourists’ enjoyment.

Her enthusiasm to get her students involved in playing throughout the community is a blessing to us all. Rhiannon's efforts and commitments are a major asset to our community and I believe she deserves serious consideration for awards.

I know that, thanks to Rhiannon, my daughter has excelled in her music abilities far beyond any of my expectations. Thanks for all you've done for us, Rhiannon.

A most worthy recipient of praise and awards

I have just begun violin lessons on an old violin which was brought over from Europe in 1927 by my father-in-law when he immigrated to Canada. Seeing this neglected instrument not being played, I then decided that I would like to learn to play it.

Then I made inquiries about who would teach this 79-year-old woman. I contacted Rhiannon at Fiddleheads Violin School and fortunately she had one lessons opening, so I took it.

Being a beginner I was given instructions on the necessary repairs before starting lessons. She saw that my violin was repaired and set up for me. The violin was returned the next week and she called me so we could commence lessons.

She taught me the proper way to hold the violin and bow. This is quite the challenge and I know I'll be at it for quite some time before I am able to make beautiful music on this antique.

Rhiannon has a lot of patience and is very thorough. She brings out the best in a person. The first lesson I had I felt comfortable and found her to be a unique person. When she does a solo concert she encourages her students to attend. This is in itself a chance to be present at the entertainment for that evening.

This young lady is a great asset to this community and area. She has given to her community many volunteering hours by playing at many functions and having her pupils entertain the Salmon Arm folks with her.

Rhiannon is certainly deserving of the prestigious awards she is earning and I am cheering for her.

Rhiannon is on her way to great things

I am Manager for Chahko-Mika Mall in Nelson, BC. I met a twenty-year-old Rhiannon in 1997 when she offered to play music for the mall.

This young lady personally delivered her brochure and promotional information and her entrepreneurial fortitude impressed me. I thought I'd give her a leg up and offered her several weeks'work playing the Christmas holidays.

I asked her to submit a proposal and she came back to me thirty minutes later with a confirmed schedule and a price. Our business relationship was straightforward and consistent from that day on.

Rhiannon was enthusiastic and keen in her work. She dressed appropriately and was among the most professional musicians I have hired to play. She played the entire time for which she was scheduled and was reliable for her shifts. When the mall traffic was low she still put on a good show.

Our patrons enjoyed the music and often complimented her presence in the mall. It added Christmas spirit and an element of class. People liked her so we hired her the following year. Once more her music and presence was a charming addition.

I frequently read or heard about her playing around Nelson and was pleased to hear she was doing well. She made a name for herself and I think it was largely due to her promotional skills and frequent exposure.

She volunteered for a variety of community events and bands on top of her busy teaching job. Despite all this she still kept her youthful enthusiasm.

I know when she left town that summer many people missed her involvement and her music.

Rhiannon deserves recognition for her keen business gusto and professionalism. I think she is on her way to great things. I wish her luck in any future endeavours in Salmon Arm and highly recommend her as recipient of awards.
